The MSBA Officers’ Workshop — for board chairs/vice chairs, clerks, treasurers, and staff — is focused on board responsibilities and laws affecting school board officers. Join us to help you:

• Create an effective board team and relationship with staff members who help officers with their duties.
• Understand your role – especially if some duties for your job are handled by district staff.
• Learn what the law requires of board officers.

Each officer will have specific breakout sessions to focus on their roles.

For chairs and vice chairs, you will dive into meeting management, Robert’s Rules, working as a team with your superintendent, and compliance with laws.

For clerks, you will learn what is required of your job, taking minutes or records, or learning what duties your staff person may do for you to fulfill your position.

For treasurers, you will find best practices for working with your staff person and what questions you could ask to stay informed on district finances.

We encourage superintendents, administrative assistants, and business office officials to join board members in these sessions.
