Join us for a six-hour Negotiations Seminar workshop designed to equip your negotiations team with the essential skills and knowledge to effectively negotiate employee contracts.
Negotiations Overview — MSBA staff will begin by highlighting the keys to successful bargaining including bargaining team preparations, communications with the public, and more.
Costing: Understanding the Financial Impact — Wages and benefits make up a majority of a school district’s expenditures. Understanding the financial impact of proposals will enable you to make informed decisions. MSBA staff will review costing, concentrating on understanding the costs of proposals, even when a financial impact may not be apparent.
Staffing Levels: Understanding the Importance on Contract Language — MSBA staff will explain the importance of language on hiring, discipline, and budget-driven staff reductions. Learn what resources are available to assist you.
Legislative Changes: How Law Impacts Bargaining — Recent legislative changes will impact what’s talked about at the bargaining table, including changes to the Public Employee Labor Relations Act, new leave provisions (including Earned Sick and Safe Time and Minnesota Paid Leave).
Real-Life Examples: What Would You Do? — Given a negotiations scenario, what would you do? Attendees will be given the opportunity to work through some sample language proposals.

Workshop fees: $210 ($230 for late/walk-in registration)

MSBA Event Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made 10 days or more prior to the event will not be charged. Pre-paid registrants will receive a full refund.
Cancellations made 3 to 9 days prior to the event will incur a $100 fee.
Cancellations made 2 days or less prior to the event will be responsible for the full fee.
