MDE’s Every Student Succeeds Act topic meetings start April 6

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is hosting a series of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Topic Area Meetings. According to the MDE website, the purpose of the meetings is to share and clarify the ESSA law and to collect important stakeholder feedback that will inform future workgroups.

Given that final guidance from the U.S. Department of Education is not expected until October, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) does not expect to reach consensus during these meetings, nor to produce final recommendations for implementation. However, the input gathered from these meetings will have a significant impact on shaping Minnesota’s new system.

MSBA encourages its members to attend one of these meetings. Please see topics and schedule below.
