The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) recently announced that Elia Bruggeman has rejoined the Department as a special assistant to Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius. Bruggeman will focus exclusively on equitable access and teacher workforce issues.

Bruggeman previously served as an assistant commissioner at the Education Department. Most recently, she worked as a deputy education officer at Minneapolis Public Schools where she lead innovative strategies for programming — which focused on closing the educational gap, access to teacher diversity, and improving graduation rates for English learners.
