The Governor’s Task Force on Broadband recently released its 2016 Annual Report.

MSBA’s Denise Dittrich is a member of the Governor’s Task Force. “I am pleased to present the 2016 report, which includes the recommendation to fully fund the Telecommunications Access Equity Aid — a 2016 policy passed by the MSBA Delegate Assembly in December,” Dittrich said. “Now, we will work to get it passed in the Legislature this year.”

This state aid will benefit school districts by making access to broadband more affordable by fully funding the eligible costs.

The recommendation in the report is as follows: “Fully fund the Telecommunications Access Equity Aid by raising its cap. This program offsets the cost of Internet access for schools participating in the federal E-Rate program.”
