MSBA encourages school board members and superintendents to advocate for their students during MSBA Day at the Capitol on Monday, March 19, at the Best Western Plus Capitol Ridge in St. Paul.
The Day at the Capitol opens with the MSBA Government Relations staff providing advocacy tips.
This will be followed by a number of notable presenters, including:
- the Minnesota Department of Education’s Tom Melcher (“Special Education: Where is the Breakdown?”),
- the Teachers Retirement Association’s John Wickland (“TRA: is 2018 the Year?”),
- the Minnesota Department of Revenue’s Paul Cummings (“Federal Tax Bill: Will Minnesota Conform?”) and,
- Minnesota School Safety Center Director Randy Johnson.
Johnson will present “School Safety: The New Normal.” He recently testified on school safety in the Minnesota House Public Safety and Security Policy and Finance Committee.
