The school board chair is a key figure in your school district. The roles and responsibilities of the school board chair are many and varied, ranging from serving as the spokesperson for the school board to understanding basic parliamentary procedure to enforcing public meeting laws and more.
MSBA is implementing a series of virtual “Board Chair Chat” conversations centering around the board chair’s roles and responsibilities. While focusing on the board chair, these conversations will be open to superintendents and all school board members — those who may want to assume the board chair role in the future and those who simply want to learn how they can further support their current board chair.
2022-2023 “Board Chair Chat” Schedule
Meetings will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month (except January) through June 2023. Look for an email invitation in your email inbox around one day before each session.
