When students require care and the local nurse is not onsite, the school staff can press a button and connect with an experienced school nurse within minutes for help with caring for unscheduled, urgent health care needs due to injury or illness, supporting daily diabetic care or other chronic care needs, overseeing medication administration, and handling emergency or 911 situations, prior to EMS arrival. Avel eCare School Health also provides students – fifth grade on up – behavioral health therapy by a licensed clinical social worker. Overall, Avel eCare School Health has conducted telehealth encounters with an average return to class rate of 90% over the past five years.
