Council of School Attorneys (COSA)

MSBA’s Council of School Attorneys (COSA) is an organization of more than 60 Minnesota lawyers who represent school boards. COSA’s purpose is to develop and strengthen the legal representation of the state’s school boards.

The annual dues are $370 or $285 for each attorney (Minnesota dues are $70 and national dues are $300 or $215 for school district in-house counsel).

These dues entitle members to the benefits of the National School Boards Association COSA organization (subscription of the publication “Inquiry and Analysis,” membership in a nationwide email group that discusses school law issues, discounts for publications and seminars, and networking with school law colleagues); as well as the Minnesota School Boards Association COSA (the COSA newsletter — which provides state and federal case updates — along with a variety of other MSBA publications).

COSA hosts at least one Continuing Legal Education seminar each year.
