MSBA Action Alerts

MSBA needs your attention or action regarding a piece of legislation. We will provide talking points for you to communicate with your legislator and legislative leaders.

2023 Legislative Talking Points

The 2023 Legislative Session is nearing the end and it is critical that MSBA members  reach out to their legislators to discuss the legislative action that is close to reaching the finish line.  MSBA as provided talking points for each of the critical areas.

Issue Briefs

MSBA provides issue briefs which are a one-page document used to quickly inform advocates and policy-makers about the basics of a single issue. MSBA’s issue briefs also include an “Ask” for school board members to share with policy-makers.

Legislative Resolutions

Show support for a legislative initiative by getting involved in the advocacy process at the local level. When statewide action is needed, MSBA will develop a model resolution for school districts to consider regarding a specific legislative initiative. Once passed, submit the resolution to MSBA’s Government Relations Team, and they will communicate your support with key members of the legislature.

Submit a Resolution

Create awareness of local issues by helping develop MSBA Legislative Policy. Elected officials often ask for MSBA’s Policies to see where school board members stand on legislative issues. Become part of the policy development process by authoring and submitting a resolution for consideration at the MSBA Delegate Assembly. If adopted at the Delegate Assembly, your resolution would become an official MSBA Legislative Policy.
